Early on, the program trained close to 90 aspiring principals per year, often younger teachers looking to vault into leadership positions, Academy officials said. It originally included an intensive summer training followed by a paid year-long residency shadowing an experienced principal, and over 14 years, the program produced 466 city principals.


The ACEC New York Leadership Institute develops the future leaders needed to grow engineering organizations and create a more vibrant, dynamic, and profitable place to work. Many people do not see themselves as charismatic speakers or great visionaries and, therefore, some managers may not see themselves as truly effective leaders. They believe that they lack the necessary innate abilities and skills to be true leaders. However, leadership requires only four elements (listed below). These can be taught, coached and inspired through a proactive process that draws out leadership abilities and achieves behavior change.

The New York IT Leadership Academy is the premier leadership event for New York's senior level technology executives to improve their management and business skills and to develop the IT leaders of the future. The purpose of this invitation-only event is to foster discussion and dialogue on what it means to be a successful CIO in the public sector and how to use IT as a strategic tool. This event is a one-of-a-kind opportunity for government and industry executives to collaborate and address the most important policy, management and leadership issues surrounding the future of digital government and the evolving role of the public-sector CIO.


The Leadership Institute is designed to foster a generation of Girl Scouts who take action and drive systemic change in their communities and the world. Participants will gain opportunities to power up their leadership skills and connect with successful women role models, attend subject-specific seminars, work on peer committees, academic transition workshops, internships, panels, scholarships, and more!


The SUNY Executive Leadership Academy is designed for academic and administrative professionals who currently serve in executive and/or senior-level roles on a leadership trajectory at their institution. This includes provosts, campus vice presidents and deans as well as other senior administrators with significant leadership experience (associate/assistant provosts, associate/assistant vice presidents, chiefs of staff, executive directors, etc.). All share aspirational goals to advance to the highest level of leadership in higher education, specifically to secure presidential, vice presidential or other executive leadership positions in the next 1-3 years.


Rising high school seniors experience college first-hand during this week-long, action-packed summer program. They learn about leadership and business careers from Executive Faculty who have worked at top global companies.


Students should have a cumulative, weighted GPA of 90 or above. Students must have a passion for public speaking, as well as careers in business. Finally, students must also show demonstrated leadership in extra-curricular activities.


The Leadership Academy Advisory Board assists NYSAR with oversight of the NYSAR Leadership Academy. Leadership Academy Advisory Board helps identify emerging REALTOR leaders and encourages them to sharpen their leadership skills so that they may exert a strong positive influence on the future of the local, state and national associations and boards, as well as their profession. The Advisory Board reviews previous class evaluations and provides input on future Leadership Academy content and curriculum. The Advisory Board reviews applications to the academy and selects individuals to participate.


Concrete Safaris' Outdoor Leadership Academy is a 6-25-week internship program for 14-24-year-olds who work or complete experiential education in one of five cohorts -- urban agriculture, landscaping, outdoor play, photo, and health promotion. The goals are to expose youth to environmental health employment opportunities, develop their leadership skills, and involve them in leading local children in healthy activities.


The state funeral director associations from Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania, through the Northeast Funeral Service Partnership, recognizes that an organization is only as strong as its leaders. To ensure the continued success of our collective state associations, and to develop the funeral service leaders of tomorrow, the associations are hosting a leadership academy. The 2022 Northeast Funeral Service Leadership Academy kicked off March 29 with 12 funeral directors from the five states gathering for the opening session at NYSFDA headquarters in Albany, NY. Dr. Donna Elam is an internationally recognized leadership development educator who specializes in diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). Dr. Elam is the founder of the Elam Leadership Institute, a leadership development think tank advising educational, government, and law enforcement agencies in the application of DEI initiatives for diverse populations throughout the United States and US territories, specializing in educational initiatives for K-12 students. She additionally serves as a senior advisor for equity at the federally funded National Comprehensive Center at Westat, which assists regional centers, states, and local clients to address priority needs and tackle high-leverage challenges in education.


While this immersive two-day program was originally conceived as training for department chairs, arguably the most demanding leadership position within higher education, it is evolving to include a wider community of faculty and administrative leadership.


As a leader in higher education, you know how demanding your role can be. At the UB Academy for Higher Education Leadership, you'll build the skills you need to meet your daily responsibilities and enhance your leadership potential in a focused, two-day workshop with key peers.


The academies, each tailored to its participants, provide guidance on navigating newsroom culture, exploring leadership styles, making ethical decisions and building resiliency. Equally significant, the academies connect women leaders who can inspire and mentor each other beyond the week of training.


Applications were open to the women who previously applied to the 2018 academy. All participants are selected to ensure diversity across ethnicity, geography, technology platforms, organization size and skill sets.


The 2018 Poynter Leadership Academy for Women in Digital Media is made possible in part by Craig Newmark Philanthropies. Katie Hawkins-Gaar, former digital innovation faculty member at Poynter, will once again lead the program. She will be joined by the following guest faculty members at the May academy:
